ABSTRACT
In this work, the energy states of an electron that is confined in coaxial GaAs/Alx Ga 1-xAs quantum well wires with interesting geometry are investigated in the presence of electric and magnetic fields. The calculations are performed by using the finite difference method. The results are given as functions of the inner barrier width, electric and magnetic field strengths. It is found that the variations in the energy states, which may be useful in technological applications, depend strongly not only on the geometry of the wire but also on the applied electric and magnetic field in coaxial GaAs/Al x Ga 1-xAs quantum well wires.
